My thesis that I wrote as part of completing my requirements at Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University was just featured in ASU Now! As an English Literature and Communication student, my project married these two disciplines. I interviewed residents and visitors of Bisbee, Jerome and Tombstone, all of which are former Arizona mining towns. I then wrote a work of creative non-fiction (CNF) describing their stories and analysis I did of the representations of these towns. This project gave me the opportunity to combine my two majors (English Literature and Communication) as well as gave me the chance to explore my home state and learn more about three cities that were brand new to me! Analyzing cities, though, is certainly very different than the literature analysis I was more familiar with. After speaking with my director, hopefully there will be more exciting news forthcoming on the future of this project!
